3321 Pte Isaac Kidger (right) was born in Cossington in 1875. He
joined the Leicestershire Regiment around 1890, and was a reservist when the Boer War broke out. He was recalled to the Colours
and joined the 1st battalion in South Africa. By coincidence, his brother-in-law Pte Mark Holmes was also serving with
the battalion. Kidger earned the Queen's South Africa medal with bars Cape Colony, Laing's Nek and Belfast, and the King's
medal.
