This pair of binoculars were privately purchased by Captain E.J.Gwyther
of the 7th battalion Leicestershire Regiment, in 1916. They have been impressed with these details by the maker as can been
seen in the photograph below. The binoculars were found at a brocante or flea market in northern France and their
poor condition suggests that Gwyther may have lost them on the battlefield, or perhaps left them in a billet.
